My Swedish Friends Are Here

"She just has to take her birth-control, then we're ready."

That's one way of preparing for a night out. Going to Band's Society.
Although the books stack themselves tall on my desk, we're going to band society. Got a flippant week planned ahead (the nights) so hopefully the days will be as structured as I intend them to be!

Sunday's Sweet Fruits

The gig went well. Ace bands! Tightest band ever played in Dundee.
We were lounging in the VIP area, Chris tagged along and stole some of the appetisers (he ate loads of sandwiches and so did we). The tiniest band (particularly small without Annuka) on the largest stage in Dundee. Babyshambles have played here. Okay so maybe that's not your favourite band but there were others I don't remember. Fat Sam's has great sound!

Their stage is massive...
Docs 4 lyfe
Waiting for the soundcheck in library (Chesterfield) couches
At last, I'm sitting on a throne
We were the opening acoustic act, all others were fullband
So... I brought my tambourine to fill some gaps...
Up by the changing rooms kissing posters (here Babyshambles)
Hippies lounging amongst old mature people.

Then for a stop at Iain's on the way back home for some wine

Max's 21st

I went to Max's 21st with two of my coolest buddies. He rented a club with a red carpet theme, ergo he made his entrance wearing blazing shades! Need I say it was a success? Max is the master of PR. We were red carpet enough for Dundee.

Ah, this is a stressful week that awaits!
Tonight Dizzuka (sans Annuka who is in Malaga) has a gig at Fat Sam's (it's a big deal).
A charity gig, READ goes Live! Dundee.
So I'm off to Dan's to rehearse in the park and finish a song so we can rock this thing!
Here's the first song we ever wrote, should record more of 'em soon.

Stella and Johanna are coming tomorrow all the way from my hometown in Sweden! Will be crazy. Furthermore, tomorrow I am on Ruaridh's show on http://www.discoverradio.org/ at 5pm, I've chosen a couple of tunes.

Yesterday's Party:

Champagne trixx
Birthday boy!

Cake time!
Wishes morphing their way into reality!
Dance offs!
Laughing and wrestling!
Chillin' in the VIP area!

Kids these Days...

Pilar and I walk back from the supermarket, a gang of 10-12 year old boys luring outside, on their miniscule bikes, practically start to sexually harass us, wasn't listening to most of it but this is an extract of how it ends:
- Is that toiletpaper?!
Do you use toiletpaper to wipe your ass?!
I like your ass!
- You can't even see my ass!!!!

Go home to your parents so they can strap you down to a chair and never let you go outside again behaving like this!

But I still find Zumba far more traumtizing, this wasn't, it was just rude.
Well at least we're not in Spain where the men stop trucks on highways to take a look and shout something condescending.

Studying & Partying

Yesterday I received one of the sweetest compliments. It's all about the tone of your voice, which is where most men screw up. From cheesy to sleazy in five seconds. I've been eating at Parlour a lot, the trendy café where they serve amazing home made healthy tasty food.
It's sunny today, but I don't feel very sunny. Always that feeling when you have to do things when you'd rather be doing other stuff. Max's "Red Carpet" party is tonight at Mango. The most exclusive 21st Dundee's ever heard of...? I haven't got any fancy stuff , but I have sunglasses.

By the way, go see The Fighter if you can! As brilliant as it's hyped to be!

Thursday's Battle of the Bands at Kage, Animus playing:
Prabash singing and Gav on bass:
A blow to the head as aftermath to Gav's bass solo:
Chris and Laura
Chris and I:
So nice to see Gav again, he doesn't live in Dundee atm!
McManus is always a pleasant sight on the walk back home:
Yesterday at the Union:
Sailor theme downstairs...
Paul, Glenn and Nuka
Frontwoman and -man
Never a sad face

Surf Club AGM & Open Mic

Yesterday I was voted Treasurer for Surf Club, after being the only one out of those running for a position who took it seriously and actually delivered a compelling speech.

So that was a good start! Then we carried on to open mic night at Art Bar, splendid as usual. Sharpie put me up as a separate act when I just wanted to continue after Chris and myself, so I just played one song. I played Fiest's Gatekeeper after the brilliant guitarist Paul had come on...

Sweetheart
A DUBS founded band played (they haven't a name yet)
