Piano Walking

Yesterday I celebrated moving out of the flat, with new better pastures (properties) ahead..
We snuck into McDaniels, the yellow Chesterfield couches have appealed to me on many a passing, so I was happy to finally step inside and take a seat!

Dan got a job, so we took the opportunity to celebrate in an empty flat!
Which meant I was cleaning the kitchen at 6am in the morning...

Today we carried the piano from my old house to Kirsty's new one. A five minute walk, add on a piano, equals an hour and a half walk!

Now I'm out of the house and onto the Blues Bonanza Festival that starts tonight and is on this weekend, see you out there!

Family Time

My father's in town!!!!!
but I still had time for some raucous activities whilst the adults are sleeping at night.

Dinner was had at DCA
Then Kirsty and I escorted the grown-ups back to Apex on our way to Dexter's,
Chris:
We were here to support Goom at the Battle of the Bands
They came through to the finals!
So we went to Duke's to celebrate:
We were dancing about, i didn't say no to Sir Mixalot
Kirsty and I found an oasis on our way home
I then noticed I had split my favourite black jeans at the back (probably whilst dancing to "I like big butts")

48 hours

Could use twice the hours in day/ in 48 hours this will hopefully be over. Need to become sharper, clearer, focused, faster academically. I remember the first half of 1st year when I hated Dundee and my life here, but everything academic was incredibly effortless, fewer hours and better grades. Correlation? The scrutiny of depression seems to breed academic sucess, effeciency and precision.

For this reason, I tried to get back in that place today, all the sad songs, all the sad thoughts, but the feeling was overwhelming, the emotional contrast was too great, so it gave no academic boost, just a need for friends and family! So, intermittent downtime is the only thing that works relatively well and working with coursemates to supervise you. I feel like I'm in Kindergarten, longing for the teenage hell of uncontrollable zit-popping. I hope I don't need to explain that metaphor..

Anyway now I'm back to number-crunching and then later on an all-night essay session at Kirsty's. Had a Kings and Coward's gig today at Drouthy's opening for Our Future Glory (who where releasing their EP). Downtime. Now it's game time.

Sunshine Memories

It's super-sunny today, reminds me of when Kirsty and I trekked up Law Hill a couple of weekends ago. It's the best thing you can do when it's sunny in Dundee. I hope Annuka brings her brother Tarun (visiting from Switzerland) up there today!!

Weekend Luxe

This weekend was very enjoyable, a great kick start to the Dundee term.
Studies are going well and it's more exciting to go out when you save it for the weekend!

Friday night was the night of Ken's 20th birthday party and Sub Focus Bass Orgy
Started off at Kirsty's serenading the wine.

Annuka brought us along to a gig at Duke's
The man of 'Edward Shallow' joined in
and so we danced to the band Stanley Odd:
We left for Ken's Party, turns out it was in full gear

Ended the night by sneaking into Bass Orgy, bumpy dancing

Hope That Life Isn't a Prison

But as far as I'm concerned it still seems to be.
I'm doing much better than the rest,
not good enough for me or for some person out there who may or may not want to be with me.
On a planet far far away. I wish I could be like Alex Scally or Victoria Legrand in Beach House. But no, I am the drummer. The person who is forced to stay calm pretends to smoke a joint but in fact suffers from inertia and is not there to relax.
Any change is good, but you get used to everything after a while, or does it mean you have to be uncomfortable for the rest of your life to be good? Yeah, totally.
To be a banker or to be a hippie, that is the question.

FYI I am doing a lot of cool chill stuff on the side of studying but I am feeling guilt-tripped into only talking about academics or the philosophy behind its incarceration of innocent hippies.

Too Cool for School

Pimpin at Monday's Houseparty with Gav and Paul! (photo Mandi T)

Yeah I wish! At least I am having fun but having trouble coordinating the academic side of things with an awesome time! Today I woke up late and had lunch at Wetherspoons with Kirsty and Chris. Psyched about Wipe Out Festival tomorrow (both my bands are performing!!) but at the same time how the 'flip' will there be time for studies....

Oh well go Kings & Cowards and Dizzuka!

Piss Up Revival

I have not been home since Thursday morning... I have been staying at Kirsty's! We are practically married! I am the wife. This weekend has been amazing!

We finished the horrific psychology essay on Friday after pulling an all-nighter, fell asleep to Wedding Date and chocolate mousse, there was no holding back, we had to say "he is so hot" every 30 seconds the gigolo appeared in the shot.

On Saturday I went to Ken's and we pretty much wrote 3 songs! Cool! Good that Ken is a musical genius and that I am a pervert so I can write lyrics quickly. After this we all crashed a house party (but not Ken because he was playing at a Christian Church for Kool Kids) and stormed the union. Tequila.

What a relaxing evening. I think all the head massaging and nipple erecting did some good! "Sad but true" to quote Kirsty's reaction to this skein of sexually frustrated friends gathered all at once.

Today has been awesome. We just had a day of slobby guitar playing and an evening at Wetherspoon's and DCA seeing Ben Affleck's The Town!! Go see it now!
Now I'm off to Annuka's for more movies!

P.S. Here are some awesome photos from the Battle of the Bands finals:

And here are some from yesterday!!

Chillin with Kirsty!

Crazy girls

Chill night no 1 in quite a while!
We stayed up all night like crazy buffoons pacing around in our heads listening to classical music and a hot guy's Spotify-tunes. We felt like collapsing but made it in the end albeit a haphazardly rushed end to it all - we get no late penalties!

My brain feels like a juicy sour cherry lollipop with a bubble gum inside, and my body, I have to pinch to stay awake.

Now off to watch girlie movies and eat chocolate mousse!
/see you when I'm in the ballpark again
